Take a good look at this man.
Here is a great example of how the media can build someone up so very much. Sure, we all enjoyed the various 'Hoff' emails a year or two back, but really... poor Dave isn't aware the admiration for him is ironic. He thinks it's real. He is, however, nothing without his robot car.

Actually, I prefer it that he thinks our affections are genuine. People lose all their amusing kitsch value when they cotton on to it. Look at William Shatner. Just not funny anymore. Even his toupee can't make me snigger. Well, maybe a little.
